Moderation & Appeals

Work in Progress

This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.

All published stories on Talescape must comply with the Content Guidelines and general community standards. Before release, every story goes through automated and manual moderation. This process ensures that Talescape remains a safe and fair platform for both Dreamers and Bards.

1. Automated Checks

Every release is automatically scanned for:

  • Missing or invalid assets.
  • Unreachable or broken scenes.
  • Incomplete metadata or age ratings.
  • Violations of technical restrictions (e.g., file size, missing warnings).

If issues are found, the release is returned to Draft with specific warnings listed in the Checks tab. You can fix these issues and resubmit the story.

2. Manual Review

After passing automated checks, your release enters Manual Review. A Talescape moderator examines the story to ensure compliance with the following areas:

  • Content Guidelines – No prohibited material or misleading ratings.
  • AI Disclosure – All AI-generated images, voices, or music are correctly flagged.
  • Technical Stability – The story runs correctly from start to finish.
  • Category Accuracy – The Dream Type and age rating match the story’s tone and content.

If the story passes review, it is approved and published automatically.

3. When a Story Is Rejected

If a release does not meet Talescape’s requirements, it may be rejected with a detailed explanation.
You’ll see a moderator comment in the Release Comments section describing:

  • Which rule or policy was violated.
  • What needs to be changed.
  • Whether you can resubmit the same version after edits.

Most rejections are temporary and can be fixed by adjusting content, warnings, or settings.

4. Story Flags After Publication

Dreamers can flag published stories for review if they believe:

  • The story violates content or age guidelines.
  • The content warning is missing or inaccurate.
  • The story uses unlicensed or infringing media.

Flagged stories are reviewed by moderators. If no violation is found, the story stays published without penalty. Repeated confirmed violations may result in account restrictions.

5. Appeals Process

If you believe your story was unfairly rejected or moderated, you can file an appeal.

To submit an appeal:

  1. Open the Release that was rejected or flagged.
  2. Click Request Appeal in the release details panel.
  3. Provide a short explanation of why you believe the decision should be reviewed.

Your appeal will be reviewed by a separate moderator who was not involved in the original decision.
This ensures impartiality and fairness. Appeals are typically reviewed within 7 business days. Once a final decision is made, it will appear in the release comments.

6. Permanent Bans or Content Removal

In severe cases (such as repeated violations or intentional abuse) a story may be permanently removed from the marketplace. This step is taken only when necessary to protect users or comply with legal requirements. Permanent removals are documented and communicated directly to the Bard.

7. Best Practices to Avoid Rejection

  • Always check your story against the Content Guidelines before publishing.
  • Include accurate content warnings and age ratings.
  • Mark all AI-generated assets correctly.
  • Avoid controversial or sensitive topics unless handled with care and context.
  • Test your story thoroughly using the Checks System and Story Preview.

Talescape’s moderation process exists to maintain trust, ensuring that every story published on the platform is safe, stable, and respectful of both its audience and its creators.
