Account Settings

Work in Progress

This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.

The Account Settings page allows you to configure your personal preferences, author profile, connected services and account security. These settings control how Talescape behaves for your account and how you appear to other users on the platform. Review Security for account protection guidance.

Email login provides Dreamer access. To create and edit stories as a Bard, connect an external account in Connections.

Changes take effect immediately after saving.

1. Preferences

The Preferences section allows you to configure basic platform settings such as language, content visibility and payment behavior.

  • Language: Sets the language used for the Talescape interface.
  • Age Group: Determines which stories are visible in the marketplace based on their content rating.
  • Currency: Defines the currency used when displaying prices and earnings in the interface.
  • Payment Provider (Beta only): During the Creator Beta, you may switch between payment providers to test different purchase flows. After launch, the payment method will be fixed per platform and cannot be changed manually.

2. Author Settings

The Author Settings section controls how you appear as a creator and how collaboration works.

  • Name: Your public display name as a Bard. This name may appear on story pages, credits and your public profile.

Collaboration

  • Allow Collaboration: If enabled, other authors can invite you to collaborate on their stories. Invitations can be accepted or declined.

Public Profile

  • Enable Public Profile: If enabled, players and other authors can view your public creator profile. Public author pages may appear on the website and can display your published stories and projects you collaborated on.

3. Bard Verification

Before publishing stories or receiving payouts, creators must complete the Bard Verification process.

  • Connect PayPal: Link your PayPal account to receive payouts from story sales.
  • Add Payout Details: Provide your legal name and payout address information for verification.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Activate two-factor authentication to protect your account and earnings.
  • Verified Bard: Once all steps are completed, your account becomes fully verified and you can publish stories and receive payouts.

4. Connections

Connected login providers in Talescape account settings.

The Connections section allows you to link external accounts to Talescape. Connected services may be used for authentication or platform integrations.

  • Google: Allows authentication and login using your Google account.
  • Twitch: Allows authentication and login using your Twitch account.
  • Steam: Allows authentication and login using your Steam account.
  • Discord: Allows authentication and login using your Discord account.

You can add or remove connections at any time, unless removing a connection would leave an authoring account without an external login provider. The final external provider is protected so that Bard access is not left without a valid sign-in method.

5. Maintenance

The Maintenance section provides tools for troubleshooting and account management.

  • Reload User Data: Reloads your account data from the server. This can resolve display issues or refresh the interface after changes were made elsewhere.
  • Delete Account: Permanently deletes your account. If you have published stories on Talescape, certain information must be retained so players who purchased your stories can continue downloading them.
