Activity Log

Work in Progress

This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.

The Activity Log records every change made within a story. It provides a transparent overview of who did what and when, helping teams coordinate and maintain accountability during collaboration.

1. Overview

Every action performed by a collaborator, from creating a scene to uploading media, is automatically logged. This ensures that the full history of edits remains visible and can be reviewed at any time.

The log helps you:

  • Track progress across complex projects.
  • Identify when a specific change occurred.
  • See which collaborator performed an action.
  • Review additions, updates, and deletions.

2. Logged Actions

The system tracks nearly all interactions within the editor, including:

  • Creation: New chapters, scenes, items, variables, or achievements.
  • Updates: Edits to dialogue, descriptions, or story settings.
  • Deletions: Removal of elements or media files.
  • Uploads: New images, audio, or other assets added to the media library.
  • Releases: New builds or publication actions.

Each entry lists:

  • The author of the action.
  • The affected category (e.g., Scenes, Variables, Media).
  • The timestamp of the change.

3. Filtering and Search

You can search or filter the log by:

  • Category (e.g., Dialogues, Events, Achievements).
  • Collaborator name.
  • Date or time.

This allows you to quickly locate a specific edit, test session, or release.

4. Permissions and Visibility

All collaborators can view the Activity Log, but entries are limited to the current story. No information is shared across projects, and private Bards’ data (like email or profile details) never appears.

Only story-related actions are logged, navigation or preview activity is not recorded.

5. Best Practices

  • Check the Activity Log regularly when working in teams.
  • Use it to verify that recent updates were saved and synced correctly.
  • Review it before publishing to confirm no unfinished elements remain.

The Activity Log acts as your story’s timeline, ensuring every change, addition, and deletion is transparent and traceable for the entire team.
