Testing & Debugging
Work in Progress
This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.
Before releasing your story, it’s important to verify that everything works as intended: from dialogue flow to scene transitions and logic conditions. This chapter explains how to test your story directly inside the editor and how to identify and resolve common issues.
In this chapter, you’ll learn how to:
- Use Story Preview – Test your story inside the editor and experience it as players will.
- Access the Debug Menu – Inspect and modify variables, inventory, and logs in real time.
- Run the Editor Checks System – Automatically validate your story’s structure and detect problems by severity (Info, Warning, Error).
- Fix Common Issues – Resolve unreachable dialogues, missing backgrounds, or orphaned scenes.
Together, these tools help you ensure that your story is stable, consistent, and ready for publication.
