Founding Bards

Founding Bards is a thank-you to the creators who help shape Talescape in its early 2026 platform year.
For the first paid story release a Bard publishes in 2026, Talescape takes no revenue share. After taxes and external store or payment provider fees are deducted, 100% of the remaining revenue from that eligible story goes to the publishing Bard.
The publishing Bard also receives the permanent Founding Bard badge as a visible mark of their early contribution to the platform.
The 2026 First Story Benefit
The benefit applies to the first paid release a Bard publishes between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026 in Talescape's platform timezone.
Only paid releases count toward the benefit. If a Bard publishes one or more free stories first, those free releases do not consume the Founding Bards benefit. The Bard's first paid release in 2026 can still qualify later.
The eligible release must pass the normal publication review and follow Talescape's content, moderation, and marketplace rules.
Revenue Share
For the eligible story, Talescape's share is 0% for the lifetime of that story.
This means the publishing Bard receives 100% of the remaining revenue after external deductions such as:
- Taxes.
- Refunds or chargebacks, where applicable.
- Store fees.
- Payment provider fees.
The Founding Bards benefit changes only Talescape's own share. It does not remove taxes, payment processing costs, store fees, refund handling, or other third-party deductions.
What Counts as Eligible
Any paid story type can qualify if it is the publishing Bard's first paid release in 2026 and it passes the normal release process.
The benefit is attached to the publishing Bard account and the eligible story. Collaborators can still be credited normally, but they do not automatically receive the Founding Bard badge or a separate Founding Bards revenue benefit from the same release.
Each Bard account can receive the Founding Bards revenue benefit once.
Permanent Founding Bard Badge
The Founding Bard badge is awarded when the eligible paid release goes live.
The badge is permanent. It remains part of the Bard's profile as a reward for helping establish Talescape during its first full marketplace year.
The badge is separate from revenue reporting. A Bard does not need to wait for the first sale before receiving it.
Updates and Future Releases
The 0% Talescape share follows the eligible story across later updates and releases of that same story.
Other stories by the same Bard use the normal revenue split described in Revenue Split & Payouts, unless another documented program or individual agreement applies.
Why It Exists
Talescape depends on the Bards who are willing to publish early, test the marketplace, and show future creators what is possible.
Founding Bards gives those creators the strongest possible start: the full net revenue from their first paid 2026 story, plus a permanent badge that marks their role in the beginning of the platform.
