Community Standards

Work in Progress

This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.

1. Purpose

Talescape is a community built on imagination, respect, and collaboration. These standards define how Bards and Dreamers are expected to behave across all Talescape spaces - including comments, Discord, contests, and other official channels.

They exist to protect a creative environment where everyone can share stories, ideas, and feedback without hostility or fear.

2. Core Principles

  • Respect others. Treat everyone (moderators, Bards, and Dreamers alike) with courtesy. Personal attacks, harassment, or insults are never acceptable.
  • Critique ideas, not people. You may disagree with a story, theme, or opinion. Do so thoughtfully and without hostility.
  • Keep Talescape inclusive. Discrimination or hate speech based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or other personal traits has no place here.
  • Stay on topic. Community spaces are for storytelling, creativity, and constructive discussion - not politics, spam, or unrelated self-promotion.
  • Respect privacy. Do not share private conversations, personal data, or identifying information without consent.

3. Constructive Interaction

We encourage feedback and collaboration. When giving feedback:

  • Focus on clarity, pacing, or emotion - not on the creator personally.
  • Use neutral, actionable language (“I felt confused by…” instead of “You failed to…”).
  • Respect that every Bard’s creative intent is unique.

Remember: Talescape is a place for growth, not judgment.

4. Prohibited Behavior

The following actions are not allowed in any Talescape space:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation
  • Discriminatory or hateful remarks
  • Trolling or intentionally provoking others
  • Spamming, flooding, or derailing conversations
  • Sharing NSFW, violent, or shock content outside marked channels
  • Advertising or linking to off-platform sales, crowdfunding, or communities
  • Impersonating staff or other users
  • Coordinating off-platform harassment or brigading

Violations may result in temporary suspension, permanent bans, or removal of access to contests or community features.

5. Moderation and Appeals

  • Moderators act to protect the health of the community, not to police opinions.
  • You may appeal a moderation action privately via Discord or direct message.
  • Repeated or severe violations may lead to permanent removal from Talescape spaces.
  • Persistent evasion of moderation (e.g. rejoining under new accounts) is prohibited.

6. Contest Conduct

Participation in official Talescape contests requires adherence to these standards. In particular:

  • Treat judges, moderators, and other participants with respect.
  • Do not pressure others for votes or results.
  • Public critique of entries is welcome - personal attacks are not.

Contest-related misbehavior can result in disqualification or suspension from future events.

7. Reporting Issues

If you witness or experience harassment, unsafe behavior, or rule violations:

  1. Report directly to a moderator or admin on Discord.
  2. Provide screenshots or details if possible.
  3. Do not engage further - let moderators handle it.

Reports are reviewed privately and treated with discretion.

8. Our Commitment

Talescape will continue to build a community where creativity can flourish without hostility. We will enforce these standards fairly, protect user privacy, and always aim for dialogue before punishment.

Stories connect us - our community should reflect that.
