Comments & Discussions

Work in Progress

This documentation is still being expanded and refined. Features, screenshots, and descriptions may change until Talescape's public release. If something is unclear or you need help, please ask on the official Talescape Discord. We're happy to clarify or update pages as needed.

Talescape’s Comments System allows Bards to discuss, review, and refine their stories directly inside the editor. Every element in a story, from scenes and dialogues to items, triggers, and media, supports contextual comments.

1. Overview

Comments are designed for quick, precise collaboration. Instead of gathering feedback in external documents or chats, feedback stays exactly where it belongs, attached to the specific part of the story it refers to.

You can:

  • Leave feedback on any story element.
  • Read comments left by other collaborators.
  • Delete your own comments when they’re no longer needed.

Comments cannot be edited once posted. This ensures discussions remain transparent and tamper-proof.

2. Where Comments Can Be Added

Comments are supported across nearly all editor components, including:

  • Scenes and Chapters
  • Dialogue lines and options
  • Media files and assets
  • Events, Conditions, and Actions
  • Story Settings and Metadata

Each comment is stored with its element and only visible to the story’s collaborators.

3. Adding a Comment

  1. Select any element in the editor.
  2. Open the Comments panel on the right-hand side.
  3. Enter your message and click Submit.

Your comment is immediately visible to all collaborators who have access to the same element.
This makes it easy to discuss design ideas, writing adjustments, or media improvements in context.

4. Comment Management

  • Deletion: You can delete your own comments at any time.
  • Editing: Comments cannot be edited after posting.
  • Visibility: Comments are private to collaborators and never shown to Dreamers or the public.

If a comment is deleted, it disappears for all collaborators.

5. Best Practices

  • Keep comments short and specific.
  • Use clear phrasing to indicate intent (“Needs more contrast”, “Add ambient sound here”, etc.).
  • Avoid posting drafts or reminders, as comments should support creative discussion, not task tracking.
  • Clean up obsolete comments regularly to keep the workspace organized.

The comment system keeps collaboration direct and context-aware, helping Bards share feedback exactly where it matters, without losing track of creative intent.
